Repetition Codes Bias
2023.
Our experiences ‘code’ our perceptions of the world, and repeated external factors can result in a knee-jerk reaction to stimuli. Sometimes, this reaction is created in response to trauma in order to minimize the likelihood of another traumatic situation. This ‘flinch’ becomes embedded into a person’s behaviors and entangled in their very algorithm, making it hard to distinguish when to break free of a bias.
